I could hear the music through the thick door of the club. The beat flew through my body and my heart copied the rhythm, making it difficult to keep calm. But I had to be calm. At least until we entered the stage. The stage which could decide our future.

We, that were Fabienne, Jace, Cloud, Lissa and I. Together we were the ‘Raging Eagles’, a rockband, that we formed three years ago, in our last year of highschool. And today we had the chance for a breakthrough. Or at least a first step.

It began with a phone call a week ago.

The call reached me just when I had finished my work at the supermarket.

“Good afternoon, my name is Richard Smith from RMA-Records.”, he introduced himself. “I saw your concert two weeks ago at the ‘Wolves Cave’. I want to offer you a chance to form a contract with our company.”

I almost dropped my mobile phone.

“That’s… that’s great.”, I stuttered. “Thank you very much.”

“If your band can impress me at the next Gig, we’ll talk about it.”

“Sure, great…. well… yeah… Next Sunday we’re at the ‘Rabbit’, 9pm.”

“All right, I’ll be there.”, he ended the call.

Immediately I informed the others and we decided on an emergency meeting the next day.

“A chance like that…. we won’t get it again.”, Jace say, twirling his drumsticks around.

“Should we play our new song?”, Fabienne, our vocalist, suggested. Lissa seemed unsure. “It is too soon. It’s not good enough yet.”

Everyone else didn’t seem to agree.

“We still got four days left.” I picked up my bass. “Until then it will be our best hit.” I sounded way more confident than I felt.

Four days went by like a flash, until we stood before the back entrance to the ‘Rabbit’. The music echoed through the door as it swung open.

Show time!
